| Introducing SIX new courses!
| | Diversity and Discrimination
Awareness of cultural differences doesn't have to divide us from each other. In fact, we can learn to communicate with each other more effectively by becoming more aware of our differences, as well as exploring our similarities.
Drug Free Workplace [0.1 CEU/1 credit hour]
The healthcare industry is not immune to workplace substance abuse. Healthcare workers who abuse alcohol and other drugs threaten the safety and well being of not only themselves, but their co-workers and patients. Your hospital is committed to protecting the safety, health and well being of its employees and patients and recognizes that abuse of alcohol and other drugs compromises this dedication. By keeping the workplace free of substance abuse, your hospital ensures the health of staff and patients and high-quality services in which patients can place their trust.
Ethical Business Practices - Doing The RIGHT Thing
Ethical behavior involves making choices based on the values of morality, honesty and integrity. To maintain the high level of ethics desired at this facility, all employees must work to ensure that the guidelines for ethical business practices are followed.
Preventing Medication Errors: A Prescription for Patient Safety [0.1 CEU/1 credit hour]
It is estimated that as many as 98,000 deaths result from medical errors each year in the United States. Recent studies have shown that errors in medication account for between 7,000 and 14,000 of these deaths annually. Patients are given the wrong medication, or the wrong dosage, or infusion pumps are operated incorrectly. Infusion pumps alone have been linked to more than a thousand deaths over the last decade. With statistics like these, it is imperative that nurses and others responsible for administering medications to patients be aware of ways they can prevent medication errors from occurring. This course teaches nurses and others prevention techniques and raises awareness about the importance of preventing medication errors; both to provide the highest levels of patient care and to avoid legal implications.
Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Recently, the term "sexual harassment" has taken on the focus of a "respectful workplace." By fostering an environment of trust, appreciation, and concern, your organization is committed to providing a culture of respect for all employees.
Workplace Violence - Prevention and Management
There are more than 2 million acts of violence occurring in workplaces across the U.S. each year. It is our goal to provide a safe workplace for you by creating a violence-free environment. Unfortunately, in a healthcare setting, we are often put in situations over which we have no control. Acknowledgment and identification of warning signs are probably the best line of defense we can utilize to make our workplace safer.
